Rooney studied and graduated from Fox Lane High School in 2003. Once completing her graduation, she traveled to Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia in South America for four months. This was a part of the Traveling School she was involved in, which had an open learning environment.
After that, she went to George Washington University for a year and then enrolled into Gallatin School of Individualized Study in New York City, wherein she attended classes in psychology, international social policy and nonprofits and from there, she finally graduated in 2010.
